PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN OF FOURTH PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
The Presbyterian Women of 4th Presbyterian Church meet in General Meeting at
least two times a year; In early June to observe the Birthday Offering of the
Presbyterian Women PCUSA; and the first of December combining the observance
of the 'Thank Offering' of The Presbyterian Women PCUSA, Christmas Meeting
and Business meeting. Monies received for these two offerings are sent to
Presbyterian Women PCUSA to be divided among the many local and foreign mission
opportunities that have been selected by a Committee for that year.
The Women of 4th Church have two Circles: 'Circle of Friends' that meet each
Wednesday at the Church 10 am - 2 pm for fellowship, crafts and sewing. This
Circle pieces and assembles the quilt that is the highlight of the Annual
Smorgasbord\Festival held the first Saturday of Nov. Shares are sold on the
quilt and a lucky winner is drawn at the end of the Evening. The proceeds
from the Annual Smorgasbord\Festival are used to make the Budget for the coming
year. About 90% of our Budget goes to Mission projects. This Circle also
ministers to the bereaved families of the Church in the in the loss of a loved
one by providing a meat and cheese tray taken to the funeral home or by
preparing and serving lunch to the bereaved family and friends following the
funeral service. We also provide a small remembrance for all the Shut-ins
at Christmas time. The Bible Study Circle meets the 3rd Wednesday at 1 pm in
the Parlor. The Group uses the Presbyterian Women PCUSA Bible Study as a
guide. Group leaders are volunteer members of the Circle.
In November the Women participate in the Shoe Box Mission Project filling shoe
boxes with small toys, toilet articles, school supplies. The boxes are sent
to war torn countries for the children. We usually have about 40 boxes and
also provide the mailing cost for each box which was $7 each in 2006.
The Red Hats Group: This Group meets the 4th Tuesday for lunch and fellowship.
The Presbyterian Women of 4th Church currently have about 20 - 25 Active
members, however each female member of the Church is considered a member of
the Group whether active or inactive. Our Goal is to change all the inactive
members to active members status.
MEMBERSHIP in any one or all of these groups is open TO ALL WOMEN. For more
detailed information regarding any one or all of these Groups please contact
