Tom got a blog! So, I hear Tom has gone digital! Welcome to 2011 Tom, and we are excited to see your new blog! This blog will be updated at least once a week, and the best part is that it's very interactive. We're invited to participate in his thoughts, reflections, and otherwise brilliant ramblings as well as recieve some at home spirituality. I'm personally excited about this, and I know Tom is as well! Thanks! - Alex

Dartball on Mondays: The dartball season is coming to a close. Thanks to Jerry Poehner for leading our team again this year. The schedule for the rest of the season follows:
March 7,14,21 - playoffs

The kickoff for the New Beginnings program will be immediately after lunch on Sunday, March 13 (See ‘Sunday Lunches’ below). Sign up for lunch and stay for Philip Lotspeich’s presentation on the assessment made for the future of Fourth Presbyterian Church. Your attendance at the kick off could be vital to the life of your church family.

The Olive Group will gather at the home of Nick Wright at 7:00 pm, Saturday, March 19. Come and enjoy the fun.

Lenten/Easter events

Fourth will start its Lenten/Easter events with an Ash Wednesday Pot Luck Dinner on Wednesday, March 9 at 5:45 pm. Our Ash Wednesday worship service will follow in the sanctuary at 6:30 pm. Wednesday dinners (5:45 pm) will continue during Lent, with a Lenten service starting at 6:30 pm each of the 5 Wednesday nights between Ash Wednesday and Holy Week. There will be a time of gathering and refreshments/desserts following each service.

There will not be a dinner on the Wednesday, April 20th, during Holy Week.

You are encouraged to join the special Maundy Thursday (April 21) and Good Friday (April 22) services during Holy Week. Both services start at 6:30 pm. The Maundy Thursday service will include a symbolic meal (not a full meal) and communion service. The Good Friday service will be a Tenebrae service.

Easter Sunday morning will be filled with worship, food and fun activities for our children. The Early Worship service will start at 8 am. Breakfast will be at 9 am in the Fellowship Hall. Special activities for the children will start at 9:30 am. Our second worship service will start at 10 am. This schedule should leave you plenty of time to join in other Easter festivities.

Refreshments/Desserts

During Lent, each committee of Session will be responsible for providing refreshments/desserts after each Wednesday night Lenten worship service. (There will be NO dessert at the Wednesday dinners.) The schedule follows:

March 16 - Congregational Care Committee

March 23 - Mission/Evangelism Committee

March 30 - Property/Stewardship Committee

April 6 - Worship Committee

April 13 - Christian Education Committee

April 21 - Maundy Thursday - Fellowship

The Fellowship Committee will be available to help the other committees as needed. Contributions from other committees will be appreciated for the Maundy Thursday refreshments.
